Apr 8, 2019

I am glad that I am here, and I just figured I'd pop in to say hello, and drop a little bit of what I've been thinking about and what was happening. So, I was just looking at my own goals for this year.  Glad you could join! And I want to just jot down 6 things, 6 things to help you achieve your goals in 2019.

We have the entire year, but I don't want you to let what happened last year happen again for you this year.

1 - Set A Goal That You Want To Achieve. It’s so much easier when it's something that we really want to do. And so, for me, if you've been watching me go live, and you've been looking at some of my posts, I have three big goals this year, and they are, to be fit (which is a bunch of things), goals related to my business, and also goals related to my bucket list. And so, I have been reviewing those on a weekly basis to help make it happen, and so first, you got to create some goals that you want to achieve.

2 - Assess How You Will Get There. Figure it out. What are the steps? What are the big milestones to getting there? And so, I'll share with you that one of my big goals is to improve my health. But that's just too generic. Literally, it comes down to BMI, it comes down to weight, and it comes down to all of your healthy numbers. Considering that, then you say how do I move the needle from where I am, to where I want to be, and then that's a real goal. And so, setting the exact result that you're looking for, and also setting a time.

3 - Make It SMART. I know you probably heard this before if you don't know what it is, I'm telling you Google is my friend. And smart really is that it’s specific. But I also read something recently that said that smart is just not it's not just that, it's not just specific as the first word, but it is also written and measured, and so this is what makes it smart. And you're measuring your progress along the way, and so if I move the needle just a little bit, so I'll say I weigh myself today, and I lost 3 lbs., and so I'm taking the ground that I made, and I am happy about it. ! How are you? Good to see you!

The next thing is, it must be attainable. It must be something that you can really do. So, I'm not going to lose 50 lbs. in a week, it's impossible! So why set myself up for that failure? And so, make sure that it's something that is attainable. The other thing it has to be realistic, right? And so realistic for you might be different for me, but also just do your own personal litmus, to say that your goal is realistic.

It also must be time bound. You must set a timeline to achieve it. Hey! How are you guys doing? You must set a timeline to achieve it, because at the end of the day, if you don't, then it's not real. So, make it smart is number three. Specific, attainable, realistic, and time-bound.

4 - Make A Plan. Actually, make a plan! Think about it. So, we make plans on our job, we make plans and all the places that we go, but we fail to make those kinds of plans in our own life for the things that we think are really important. So, make a plan! Put it on your calendar, put in your planner, on your phone, put a sticky note on your mirror, put it wherever you need to put it so that you can remember. And set some time aside on to review it. So not just plan it, but also to review it on a regular basis. So, for me, I happen to review my goals on a weekly basis. That might be too much for you. You might only want to review your goals on a bi-monthly basis or monthly basis. But whatever it is, make sure that you do you put it on your calendar, because if you don't put it in your calendar, it's not real.

5 – Adjust As You Go. Yes, you have to adjust as you go. So maybe you need to adjust your activities or what you’re doing, maybe you need to adjust the fact that what you're doing isn't working, maybe you need to go back and get some help, maybe you need to get some research, a read a book. Whatever it is that you need to do, considering the fact that this is a goal that you wanted to achieve, keep at it.

6 - Celebrate Your Success. When you achieve something, celebrate, but don't make your celebration something that will undermine your success, either. So, let me give you a clue. So, as I said, I lost 3 lbs., right? So, my success cannot be related to food, because that is going to undermine what I've been able to accomplish. So, keep that in mind.

And so, Smart Goals – how are you going to achieve your goals in 2019? Let's just do a quick review, and I'll let you go.

Identify a goal that you really want to attain. Assess what it will take to get there. Make a plan. Put it on your calendar. Adjust as you go along. Make it smart, specific, measurable, attainable, realistic, and well-timed, and then celebrate along the way.

And there you have it! You’ll be on your way to accomplishing your goals!
